RDA
has received a large number of complaints regarding Deffenbaugh
trash and recycling services.
What's
happening:
The
company that contracts with the city to pick up our trash and recyclables,
Deffenbaugh, has been recently sold to DLJ Merchant Banking Partners,
a private equity investment affiliate of Credit Suisse. There
has been some restructuring in the pick up process and it is causing
widespread problems and delays in what had been a fairly reliable
service.
Also,
the Unified Government has just launched the new curb-side recycling
program that demands additional weekly services from Defenbaugh
at a time of company upheaval.
What
to do:
If
you are experiencing any issues we suggest calling 3-1-1 from your
home phone. This is the city information line which will connect
you to a city operator. Please give them detailed information regarding
your situation and they will get it to the proper authority.
We
know this is very frustrating but we ask for your patience and for
you to call 3-1-1 so the problems can recorded and fixed. The RDA
will continue to monitor this problem and bring you any new information
as we receive it.
